Hong Kong University of Science and Technology R and D Corporation Limited (the Company) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (the University). The Company serves as the vehicle for commercialization and exploitation of the research conducted at the University. It provides contractual, financial and administrative support for the University's technology transfer, collaborative research and consulting activities with the industry. We are seeking applications for a Manager to assist the Company and the University in managing projects funding by RAISe+, the new funding scheme of the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC). The appointee will be responsible for overseeing the administrative and financial matters for projects and activities funded by RAISe+.
Job Description
Major responsibilities of the appointee include:
- Liaise with the University departments, external parties (including ITC and RAISe+ applicants) and professionals (including legal retainers and auditors) to connect with resources useful for providing administrative and financial services, including proposal and budget review to faciliate RAISe+ applicants for funding applications;
- Liaise with RAISe+ awardees, University departments, external auditors and ITC on funding management and expenditures during the course of the RAISe+ projects;
- Prepare operational guidelines and documents necessary for the management and compliance of RAISe+ projects;
- Provide finance and procurement functions to RAISe+ awardees including monitoring project budgets and expenses, daily accounting and cash management, procurement of goods and services, and liaison on internal and external audit matters;
- Provide HR functions including payroll, insurance and MPF administration;
- Provide other office administrative functions, including office maintenance services.
Requirements
Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree preferably in business or accounting. The ideal candidate should have not less than 8 years of work experience, preferably in universities, government, NGOs and/or research centers/institutes. Candidates should have substantial and strong experience in handling the administrative and financial matters for ITF projects. He/She should be self-motivated and have strong analytical, organizational abilities, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in written English is required. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
